More after the jump!
So the first article today is just one that struck me as being a rather sad figure. In the United States, an estimated 1.7 trillion gallons of clean, processed water is lost every year because of leaky pipes. Now using some back of the napkin sorts of calculations, that much water would cost the average homeowner about 3.45 billion dollars. Now, this isn't the cost to the utility but unless they are gouging the price of tap water this is still a fairly significant figure.
This is really just another sad reflection of the fact that the infrastructure in this country has for the past quarter of a century has been totally neglected. This is why traffic exists, bridges collapse, the New Jersey jug handles continue on, and trillions of gallons of water that we put effort into just leaks out of the pipe.
In other news, one of the dinosaurs of the american automotive industry, in this case GM. Is going to make a fairly.... symbolic move soon. Basically GM is going to sell a lot of stock, however the government is also going to sell part of its share bring its total to being only 50% of the company! Now GM has been in the news for finally remaking its factories to make a new generation of cars. I am not going to post a picture of any GM vehicle because that would make me sad so instead you get European automotive work.
Ahhh that makes me feel a little better. Nothing like some English!(cough german cough) engineering to get the automotive blood pumping.
Well, on that lackluster ending I bid ye adieu, and remember, keep the moment positive!
Whoah that much water is lost? Didnt think it'll be that much. Also that GM joke was funny
